Türkiye'de iki ya da daha fazla katlı kamu binalarının yangın merdiveni olması zorunluluğu vardır. Fakat Bakıröy'deki bu tarihi bina için bunu yapmak çok zordu çünkü acil durum merdiveni sonradan eklenmek zorundaydı. X-TEND paslanmaz çelik ağ düşmeye karşı koruma amaçlı kullanıldı. Ağ yapısı neredeyse şeffaf olduğu için eski mimarinin görüntüsünü bozmuyor.
It is a legal requirement in Turkey that all public buildings with two or more storeys be equipped with a fire escape – a daunting challenge in the case of this historic building in the Bakirköy district, where an emergency staircase had to be retrofitted. X-TEND stainless steel mesh was used as fall protection. The mesh structure has the advantage of being almost transparent, so that it does not detract unduly from the old architecture.
